大自然のためのチョコレート
イギリスにはスラム街や都市の空き地など、緑が過疎化した地域にゲリラ的に種を蒔く「ゲリラガーデニング」という活動がある。tanelateはこの活動を元に着想した、カカオハスクのアップサイクルプロダクトである。
カカオの殻部分であるカカオハスクは、使い道が少なく破棄されることが多いため近年活用方法が模索されている。
そこで私はカカオハスクが肥料として機能することに着目し、植物の種とカカオハスクを組み合わせたチョコレート型のカプセルを制作した。割って土へ埋めると、カカオの殻が肥料となって種の成長を補い、やがて植物が芽を出す。
大地にご褒美をあげるような感覚で、種蒔きの行為がより楽しいものになることを願う。一粒ひと粒に違う種の種類が入っていれば、開花を待つ時間もより豊かにできるだろう。これは都市の中での小さな緑の始まりを促し、誰もが体験として楽しめる持続可能な未来への一歩を示すための手段である。
Chocolate for Mother Nature
The tanelate is an upcycled cacao husk product inspired by the "guerrilla gardening" movement in the U.K., where seeds are planted in depopulated areas such as slums and vacant lots in cities.
Cacao husks, which are the shells of cacao, have few uses and are often discarded. Attracted by the fact that cacao husk can function as a fertilizer, I created chocolate-shaped capsules that combine plant seeds and cacao husk. When broken open and buried in the soil, the cacao husk acts as a fertilizer to replenish the growth of the seed and eventually the plant will sprout.
I hope that the act of sowing seeds will be more enjoyable, as if we are rewarding the earth. If each seed contains a different type of seed, the time spent waiting for flowering will be richer.
This is a way to encourage small green beginnings in the city and to show a step toward a sustainable future that everyone can enjoy as an experience.
